Actually, I’m not that bothered about a lack of Java 6 on the current build of Leopard, but will probably start to lose faith if it’s still not there by Christmas…
Anyway, I’m not going to write loads, suffice it to say that the Apple java-dev mailing list folk suggesting using 0xCAFEBABE in decimal + a magic word to link all the pages up.

So please Apple, sort it out. I’m really happy that you’ve finally got an OS X L&F looking good on Java 5 and pleased that it’s 64-bit, but lets get Java 6, and reasonably soon.
Oh, and whilst we’re at it, please Sun, make Instruments nee X-Ray available on Solaris.
IntelliLang
I think I did mention that I’m a Java developer by trade, so here’s a Java development post…
My IDE of choice is IntelliJ IDEA, have a certain distaste for Eclipse and a growing fondness for Netbeans (come on version 6!).
It’s not often, however, that I see something genuinely useful or innovative in the IDE space, so was pleasantly surprised to see an IDEA plugin today that extends its support for
custom languages and regular rxpressions.
So thank you, the makers of IntelliLang, and congratulations on winning the awards.
Jobs on Java on iPhone
At the Ultimate iPhone FAQs List, Part 2, Jobs apparently says:
Javas not worth building in. Nobody uses Java anymore. Its this big heavyweight ball and chain.
I wonder if he was referring specifically to the iPhone or more generally… and if he’d stopped taking his dried frog pills?
