So I managed to get into the gym on Saturday and I can confidently say Reebok club is excellent, no problem finding a locker and had a swim lane entirely to myself.
But it had just opened early on a weekend morning….
Today, I try the gym proper after work, probably one of the busiest times.
My last trial* day is Wednesday, so will try to get in again then.
* I started a week-long trial to compare it against Virgin Active, LA Fitness and my employers gym.
Today I thought I’d get up early, do a bit shopping, get a free parking token (good for two hours) then use gym in same building then back to car and home.
Waitrose opens 7.30am
Gym opens 8am
So… I arrive at 7.28 and lo! Waitrose isn’t open until 8.30. Cock.
So I’m sitting in Herman in the car park listening to calming music waiting for 8
Now it’s going to be a race to finish gym and shop before the two hours are up.
At least I can blog about it whilst waiting
Tomorrow I’m starting a week-long trial of the Reebok Club London – a supposedly fancy gym in Canary Wharf.
I had the quick ten-minute tour yesterday and wasn’t immediately impressed, but decided to do a trial anyway as it’s local.
I think I’ll prob go back to the Virgin Active (nee Holmes Place) on Canary Riverside, but lets see how this one goes.
Both Reebok and Virgin have pools, something my employer’s gym lacks, and I do like to splash around.
Both are stupidly expensive (three times the price of my work gym), both offer rolling monthly memberships, both have smiley happy pre-sales staff and predictably bored day-to-day staff.
I know Virgin has a really nice hydrotherapy pool area underneath the main pool, and I suspect Reebok lacks this.
Tomorrow I’ll find out.
Over the years I’ve joined many gyms. I even attended some semi-regularly.
Lets see – I joined Holmes Place (Canary Riverside, very nice spa), LA Fitness and the gym in the building where I work.
I am now between gyms, having recently quit my employer’s facility and made enquiries of the Reebok Club in Canary Wharf. It’s a bit pricey but supposedly has a nice spa and pool like Holmes Place (now Virgin Active).
At least with this one, the membership is rolling monthly, so if revert to being a lazy bastard, I won’t have to continue paying
