After being on a weird diet for the last couple of weeks, I’ve started to eat more and with a bit more variety. In particular, I managed something resembling a normal Christmas dinner, some lovely biscuits made by my sister and even a couple of half-glasses of wine.
No major ill effects so far, so it’s possibly safe to say that the drugs I was taking in combination with diet have caused the immediate problem to go away.
I still haven’t tried eating anything too large, or anything spicy, so it remains to be seen if I’m completely fixed.
As an experiment this evening, I tried half a mild chicken korma from Waitrose. Nothing too exciting or demanding, but if there are no ill effects from this, I think it’s probably safe to put this blog’s tagline back the way it was.
In my current condition, I cannot consume:
- alcohol
- black and red pepper
- chillis
- caffeine
- chocolate/cocoa
- tomatoes
- fatty foods
- anything fried
- onions
- garlic
- cinnamon
- cloves
- peppermint
- and more…
But basically, beer and curry is right out, as is coffee and chocolate brownies.
What superb timing!
I’ve adjusted this blog’s tag line until things are sorted.
I could wait no longer.
Tale of India was contacted.
Curry arrived.
Curry consumed.
Sated.
Still some left for tomorrow
Went to visit Dom in Colchester today for a curry at lunchtime. Sadly, both primary and backup curry facilities were closed, so had to make do with a(nother) Thai green curry, although it was quite good.
Also went to pub where CBT can be found and had a wander through the woods.
Most pleasing day.
And Herman enjoyed a zoom aboot.
And Dom gave me a few glow stick items to play with
In an attempt to keep track of how much and how often, I shall be making observations about my curry consumption.
I shall start by saying that today I had a Thai green curry with baked potato for lunch at the work restaurant.
It was pleasing, but nothing special. Also, being Thai, not a real curry.
Since the last curry drought things have improved, but still not up to previous records.
I had a very nice curry with Dom at the Tale of India a while back, a delivery from same last week and a spot of tiffin from the work restaurant today.
However, I don’t miss curry as much as I used to. At my last job, there’d be curry at least once a week, either with work mates or at home with wife (or both).
At my current job, no one ever goes out for lunch and there aren’t too many curry establishments within staggering distance anyway.
I wonder if I’m finally weening myself off curry?
I always thought that (paraphrasing HHGG a bit) if you are tired of beer and curry you are tired of life.
And you don’t want to do that.
It occurred to me this morning that I haven’t been having as many curries as I’d like in recent months. Given my tag line, this is cause for concern.
Oh, the restaurant at work does a fair curry / Asian BBQ from time to time, but I have not been out for one since visiting my brother in Kingston two weeks ago (Monty’s, but that was very good).
Usually, I’d order one in from one of my locals at least once a week, but since the Royal Spice stole my credit card details, I’ve lost my appetite for it (if you’ll excuse the metaphor). The Tale of India is a better place anyway, I think.
Also, this week I’ve been too tired to order in a big curry, and this weekend I’m off to the Lake District, so not sure if there are good options there. Maybe one of these.
Hopefully, more curry-induced ramblings will spring forth as the year progresses.
