The journey home wasn’t as bad as I thought.
We ignored the normal motorway-all-the-way-down route and instead headed toward the Humber Bridge, then on to Lincoln and only hitting motorways at the A1(M) and M11.
We hit a few torrential rain moments but otherwise was dry and traffic-free.
The Humber Bridge was particularly cool. Never seen it before.
Now home… and a day off 
before returning to work

The A1(M), A14, M11, A12 route home isn’t too bad. Used to be a passenger on that route rather a lot and it beats the hell out of the M1, M25.
