This last weekend, we went to Bowness-on-Windermere, a most pleasing place in the English Lake District.
There is a lake there - Lake Windermere - the largest lake in England. Full of water. Liquid.
The weather was very nice. A little cloudy, but dry. In the south part of England, it was pretty bad. Very rainy. Liquid.

One thing I’ve noticed over the last few weeks, is that driving gets less pleasing the closer you get to London.
Today started off wonderfully, although a little slowly, along the winding roads around Windermere/Coniston area, up a rough track and nearly into a gate (thanks to Kate the TomTom having a blonde moment), then onto [...]
As predicted, Herman hit 1000 miles somewhere north of Birmingham on the M6, although I missed the actual event, so being a bit techie, observed 1024 miles instead.
So Herman’s engine is fully run in and we’re now in the Lake District where the roads are most pleasing
But thankfully only for one night.
Lake District here we come
It occurred to me this morning that I haven’t been having as many curries as I’d like in recent months. Given my tag line, this is cause for concern.
Oh, the restaurant at work does a fair curry / Asian BBQ from time to time, but I have not been out for one since visiting my brother in [...]
Since resurrecting my blog, and using this somewhat plain theme, I noticed little blank people pictures next to all the comments.
It seems they are gravatars, and are a bit of fun.
For those of you that have registered for this blog, use the same email address to sign up for a gravatar and your mugshot will [...]

I won several times and was able to make enough profit to buy a load of lottery tickets for Saturday evening and withdraw £21, so at the very least I’d be £1 up.
Happily, I discover [...]
Yesterday, we went out for a trip in Herman, the intention, to head toward the coast somewhere, potter about, find some nice driving roads and come back and watch the second half of the FA Cup.
I thought Hastings, maybe, then west to Beachy Head (not jump off) then back up to London.
It was raining when [...]
My boss has gone on holiday this week (and next week), and I’ve been left in charge.
Being the boss seems to involve gathering status information, writing it down and presenting it to some other bosses and business customers. Due to dependencies with other teams, it also involves a lot of getting them to provide status [...]
A few friends and colleagues find themselves between jobs at the moment (evil credit crunch and all that), so I’ve come up with a few things to do whilst unemployed:
Find a new job - bit obvious really, but should be a priority, even if you’ve got wads of redundancy money. It will run out.
Don’t just [...]
