This year is a leap year and today, February 29, is the traditional day for women to propose marriage to men.
So if you’re a confirmed bachelor, maybe it’s best to stay at home today.

Or, in my case, walk out with a large sign sayng ’single, desperate and loaded’. I think I’ll add the small print of ‘only cute women need apply’.
I’m just off to ask Dom to marry me!
Woo - I’m getting a wife
Hurrah!
I dunno. Marriage is overrated. Okay, so I have a partner for life, someone who shares all my problems and joys, a support structure (incredibly useful if you have kids), endless nooky, shared economies of tasks and money, lower stress, etc, etc. But look at the downside - I don’t get to buy lots of toys for myself.
I find that having a wife tempers my toy buying, but that’s probably a good thing. I always had too many toys.
When I was practically married to my ex for 10 years my toy buying was at a higher rate than it is at the moment as the household budget had another income helping out leaving more money for me
I find that my toy buying has practically doubled since wedlock. Take, for instance, my Nintendo DS. Where is it? Wife’s taken it to UK. iPod Nano, same. Powerbook etc. All need (or already have) replacements. This also works along the lines of;
Mr: “I need a new macbook”
Mrs: “You’ve got one”
Mr: “Yeah, I was thinking of giving this one to you and getting a new one.”
Mrs: “Ive got one”
Mr: “Naw, you’ve got a powerbook, it’s old now, you need a new one.”
Mrs: “oh cool.”
