Holiday

I had a much needed two-week holiday recently and have finally got around to posting all the photos on Flickr. No doubt a snoozefest for most, but it’s easier to give interested parties one URL (this one):
Las Vegas
Grand Canyon
Hoover Dam & Lake Mead
New York City
Trip to Staten Island
Top of the Rock
Central Park
Niagara Falls

1996 - Velcro

Today, I stumbled upon an archive of a personal website I had back in 1996… This was before blogs and digital cameras, and was probably technically Web 1.0, although it felt like Web 0.1beta….
Anyways, what follows is one of the original pages, more or less as it was back then.

Fun & Games - Velcro, the [...]

Mini lives

My mini has been poorly of late.
I planned to get a new external firewire disk for it and thought my trip to the US would be an ideal time as the USD is worth so little these days.
I bought a G-TECH G-DRIVE external FW drive. Looks good, runs silent, sleeps when Mini sleeps.
So Mini is [...]

Thursday

I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Drink up, the world’s about to end.

iPhone in UK

iPhone has been announced in the UK and it’s a bit disappointing, I think.

No 3G, so we’re stuck with slower EDGE
Free WiFi via The Cloud, so that’s not soooo bad. ‘Unlimited’ data plan might prove a bit limiting though
Very expensive at £269 + £35/18 months - competing phones are free + cheaper + free toys
O2 [...]

Outlook sucks

Today was my first day back at work after a two-week holiday.
I expected to spend a bit of time trawling through all the email I receive, trying to spot the important ones from the spam *, but lo, what was this?
30,000 messages.
About 380MB of email.
My mailbox limit at work is approx 80MB at which point [...]

Queue jumping

A day or so ago, we took a bus tour to Brooklyn. This involved waiting for a bus down by the South Street Seaport.
There was a queue (or line for Americans). We were around four back from the front.
A bus showed up, but it wasn’t the one we wanted, but this didn’t stop a load [...]

Work gravity

So I’m on holiday (or as I’m in the US of A, on vacation).
I’m in NYC and have been for two and a half days after a week in Las Vegas, yet I seem unable to stay away from the office, and it’s all by coincidence.
Our hotel here, it turns out, is one block away [...]
