Here in the UK, the Wii became available for pre-order at Amazon.co.uk on November 21th 2006.
Amazon said the store would be open for this at 9am, so I stayed a home, Amazon Wii page opened in Safari, mouse hovering over the ‘refresh’ button.
After about 15 mins of waiting, and no “Wii now available!” messages, I gave up and started my 25 min journey to work.
When I got there, I found that not only had Amazon already sold out (in just 7 mins IIRC), but many of my colleagues had managed to secure one 
Later that day I did manage to order one from PissyPC World, so was somewhat less unhappy.
Fast forward to today (14 January 2006) and I still have no Wii.
PC World say they’ll be shipping mine ‘mid Jan’, so that’ll be tomorrow or Tuesday then.
Finger crossed.

Don’t hold your breath
If you are really desperate to get one soon check out http://www.wiifind.co.uk/ - Apparently Game are also getting in stock almost daily, as are some Argoses….Argos’s….Argi (whatever the plural of Argos is :D) ). I’m working on the premise that they’ll be available before my birthday so I am not looking that hard at the moment.
